Florence Museum Pass

The long rumored Florence Museum Pass is soon to be a reality according to our friend Alexandra at arttrav.com:

"UPDATE: January 14 2011: Matteo Renzi announced yesterday that this museum card will finally be available this year, on February 14th. The location and manner of purchase is still TBA. State and comunal museums are all included and will cost 50 euros for 3 days (tourist pass). Private and other museums are still in negotiation. The card does not include a bus pass as had been previously announced."

My initial take on this - 50 euro per person is still a lot of money, and in three days how may of the 33 venues can you possibly visit? Will the 50 euro apply to children also? Will there be a family option? I guess we'll have to wait and see. I still think that becoming "Friends of The Uffizi" for 100 euros (for a whole year) for a family of four may be a better deal. I guess we won't know until more details are released.
