We finally got to climb Brunelleschi's Dome the other day (we had an aborted try last week when my 5 year old bailed at the last minute). The climb itself is not too bad, with the initial flights of stairs being the hardest. Once you reach the level where the dome actually starts, it is relatively easy going. Florence is incredible from this vantage point, and there are amazing views of Vasari's "Last Judgement" frescoe on the inside dome as you make your way up.
