The appointment with CORRI LA VITA is for September 26 at 9:30 am in Piazza della Signoria, the most historic and prestigious piazza of Florence.
CORRI LA VITA is an event for raising funds of which a portion is given to public health facilities that specialize in rehabilitative therapy for cancer patients. This event is organized and managed by a committee of volunteers in collaboration with L.I.L.T. Florence (Italian Cancer Society Florence branch).
CORRI LA VITA is not only a walk/run, but is an event for people to gather together for sport, culture and solidarity.
All sorts of athletes and non athletes participate, there are no limits in size, age or capability - two routes have been designed that vary in length and difficulty. There is a competitive/or non competitive race of approx. 12 km, together with a walk of approx. 5.7 km. Specifically for families, friends and children the walk winds through the historic center of Florence and crosses over the river to the Oltrarno, stopping along the way to visit gardens, churches, palaces and museums that will be opened especially for this occasion.
This year's itinerary has many new and interesting places to visit like the church and crypt of Santo Stefano al Ponte, the Tribune of Galileo's in the Museum of the Specola, the Museum of Natural History, The palace "Non Finito" and then through the Boboli Gardens entering from Rondo of Bacchus, passing the amphitheatre, the steps of the Meridiana, the Botanical Gardens, the fountain on the island and the lawn of the Columns.
CORRI LA VITA expects 20,000 participants this year which represents a phenomenal increase, from when it started seven years ago. The official T-shirt CORRI LA VITA will be yet again generously offered by the Florentine fashion house of SALVATORI FERRAGAMO and the chosen colour is purple, which for the Florentines is a very popular color. The Florentine football team wears purple. The first 20,000 registered participants will be given one T shirt per person.
The participation numbers have been sponsored by LA PERLA, a very prestigious company that makes beautiful underwear and beachwear. LA PERLA has always been sensitive about women's health issues.
