The marathon has a new starting spot this year (details) and will be run on Sunday, November 27th. If you are a tourist on this day you need to know that the city is pretty much shut down to vehicular traffic, and there really is no getting in or out unless you do it very early in the AM or much later in the day. Not a day for a casual "let's see Florence" if you are staying somewhere else. If you are here in the center, be prepared to have to walk extra distances to cross some streets, etc. Here is a map of this year's course:
