Running from 27 to 31 January at the Stazione Leopolda, Vintage Selection is the fair for clothing, accessories and design vintage objects, held to coincide with Pitti Filati 78. A fashion lab that looks to fashion from the past and an immense archive that provides creative ideas for designers, this 27th edition of Vintage Selection in increasingly closer linked to the world and themes of Pitti Filati. Exhibitors and visitors will be attracted, as always, by a rich array of new entries, in a true festival of vintage culture that offers opportunities for shopping, culture and entertainment.
To make this relationship even closer and more productive, the Fortezza da Basso will host an exhibition/display of the collections on show at Vintage Selection, inspired by “Pitti Generation(s)”, the theme guiding the winter shows, dedicated to overcoming traditional generational barriers in contemporary fashion.
In the same way, the theme guiding the Vintage Selection 27 is “V Generation”: the “Generazione Vintage” will inspire VVV VERY VINTAGE VISION, an installation-show at the Leopolda, with concept and art direction by Angelo Figus, featuring a selection of icon outfits supplied by exhibitors at the show.
Twice a year the fashion world comes to Florence for Pitti Uomo - the premiere fashion buying event for men's fashion. You can't get into the trade show without being connected to the industry in some way, but if you are into fashion and/or people watching, you can stand (along with other people - sometimes other famous fashion bloggers) and watch the crowd go by or take photos. One winter I was next to the Sartorialist for a bit and got a couple snaps of him taking photos. I think one of the reasons his photos are so good is the angle he gets - he is a pretty short guy!
Here are a couple of people coming and going:
This event has been canceled in some parts of the world, but I guess they are keeping the party going in Firenze. More info on the Italian Vogue site here.
I think it is a lot of fun, great people watching, and a very festive evening. There are usually some giveaways, free drinks, special products, etc. Last year we ate some exquisite chocolates at the Ferragamo store...

Wow - every would be and wanna be fashionista and model was out on the streets of Florence tonight for the VOGUE Fashion's Night Out. I just had to ask for a picture of these amazing shoes (by Dsquared) - but I only had my long lens so the photo is in two pieces:
I also forgot to ask for the young woman's name - thank you for the photo if you see this.
The VOGUE Fashion's Night Out, Florence edition, is tomorrow, and Girl In Florence has some good details on what will be where here.
The VOGUE "Fashion's Night Out" event is coming up next week here in Florence (tonight the event is in Rome if you are there) - you can find more info on their website.
