The "crisis" as the Italians call it is very real here in Florence. There are countless closings and vacant shops and "Affittasi" (For Rent) signs all over town, even on the best retail streets in the city. But even though times are tough, there are still new shops and restaurants opening every day (maybe too many pizzerias!). And many shops are moving to new locations, sometimes just a few stores down the same street (to take advantage of better rents no doubt).
