I have been meaning to post about this place for awhile, but even though we have eaten there a few times, I didn't know the name of it (it was know to us as "the vegetarian restaurant in a shop by Piazza Mentana" that our friend told us about)! I stumbled across the site yesterday as it is going to be the aperitivo spot for the upcoming Slow Art event in April (follow that link to learn more and sign up!).
BRAC is a "libreria di arte contemporanea caffè e cucina" - a contemporary art library and cafe and kitchen. The food is vegetarian and vegan - and amazing! As is the setting - there is a sort of small bar where you enter, which leads into a courtyard, and the further into another dining room. Depending on the weather you can eat outside in the courtyard (which is most of the time). And then there are art and architecture books and magazines all over the place - many to read while there and some for sale. We haven't quite figured out the "library" part yet but it really doesn't matter - this is a great place with fantastic food and ambiance, and something different in the Tuscan dominated palate of Florence. It is also very reasonably priced - we highly recommend it.
