New place to eat fried seafood popped up while we were gone - it is a franchise specializing in calamari - Re Calamaro (site in Italian). Only in Italy I guess! We wish them luck. They opened up a fancy new spot on the west side of Piazza San Firenze (see map below) on July 11th. The menu is pretty basic, fried calamari, fish, shrimp, french fries and onion rings (basically). The food comes in paper cones that you can take away or sit in little wire holders in the cozy nautical themed dining area. The prices aren't bad - a combo meal with a drink (beer, wine, water, soda) is around 8 euro. If you are looking for something different and fast in Florence, check them out.
