Florence, Italy, Oct.18 - Rare wine bottles auction by Pandolfini and Pitti Immagine in Florence, commencing on 20 Oct, coinciding with the presentation of the Wine Guide 2005 of L'Espresso. The items expected to reach the highest bid are 'SuperTuscan' wines of the renowned wine-producing farm Tenuta dell'Ornellaia, sixteen bottles of Masseto, from 1986 to 2001, and sixteen of Ornellaia, from 1985 to 2000, expected to be sold at more than 1000 euro each. 150 sets of rare Italian and French wines will be auctioned, including Messorio, Scrio, Tenuta di Bolgheri Le Macchiole, with 7 bottles each (1994-2001, 1000, 650 euro). Other wines will be the double magnum of Le Pergole Torte Montevertine of 1998, about 380 euro, and the set of Tua Rita 2001, consisting of two magnums of Redigaffi and Sirah, around 380 euro. 'Outsider' will be the catalogue, donated by Antinori for solidarity: a casket with the four best Guado di Tasso years (1996, 1997, 1998 and 2001), great red wine. Plenty of French wines too, protagonist being Chateau d'Yquem, king dei Sauternes: a 1893 bottle, worth about 1000 euro, and a 1906 one, about 800 euro, and bottles of 1908, 1916, a 1924 magnum and sets of 1953, 1955, to finish off with a beautiful 5-litre bottle of 1983. Great vintages for the great red Bordeaux wines: two sets of Chateaux Margaux and Haut Brion of 1959, both featuring 2 bottles, 600 and 1100 euro, or the great 1961 vintage, with 3-bottle sets of Chateau Latour, about 1100 euro.
