We had dinner at Trattoria Baldovino the other night, a cute, charming little place right off the Piazza Santa Croce. The service and the presentation was fast and courteous. I would say this is in the moderate to inexpensive class, and while the food overall was good, I would not call it "fine dining" (the Osso Bucco came out in 10 minutes?). We had very nice salads of Arugula and Parmigiano that came with a lemon wedge. The olive oil on the table seemed to be of very good quality. That and a little balsamic made a nice dressing. Our dinners were the Ossu Bucco, Linguine with white clam sauce, and Tagliatelle with rabbit ragu. This was my entree and unfortunately is was barely warm, which was surprising because the food came out so fast. The Ossu Bucco was delicious, and the clam sauce was good if not a little pungent. We were not blown away but it was good enough to go back for another try. My main reservations were that most of the food seemed to have been completely cooked earlier and just reheated (though not enough!) to serve us, and that the house wine (I know, house wine, but this is Italy) was very poor and nearly steaming hot.
